I miss those Little Debbie brownies I ate as a child.  The sugary goodness of sinking my teeth into such sweet delight was a yearning I have had.  When I came across the Enjoy Life Cocoa Loco Chewy Bars, which are completely free of all the main allergens, I thought they might be a good substitute.

These brownie bars do not have frosting like Little Debbie’s, but they are gluten and dairy-free.  So as I examined the brownie and wished for the cosmic topping, I finally took a bite.  It was somewhat dry but with a rich chocolate flavor.  As my teeth ground together, I felt a sandy feeling of possibly the sweeteners that were used.  There was supposedly more chocolate chips then previous versions, but I didn’t notice any crunchy chocolate pieces.

I really needed something to drink afterward as it left a strange dry aftertaste in my mouth.  The lingering flavor reminded me of my protein bar days.  These bars are not comparable to Little Debbie brownies, but they are a quick snack for those with allergies.  At my local Big Y, they retailed at $4.29, were on sale for $3.50, plus coupons and double dollars, I bought a box of 5 bars for $1.50.  They were very handy when I was traveling through the airports on my trip.  I knew I had “safe” food with me.
