The sandwich without the bread, yes, that is how I eat. I get right to the meat of the meal, just like I am getting to the meat of the problem when it comes to the junk around the important things in life. It is hard to see the meat when it is wrapped in a roll, but without the roll, the meat is the centerpiece. As I remove the junk I don’t need in our house and lives, I can find the things I need to facilitate growth.
I now see how much clutter I bring home every day. Coloring pages for our son, a free health magazine, free swag at functions, art projects from the museum and story time, and free coupons and samples. Nothing is free. Free items clutter my life and home. It is not the end of the world if I miss a coupon or sale, especially if there was nothing I needed or wanted, or maybe I had somewhere else to be. It is costing me space and time, which is money in terms of gas and mortgage.
Decluttering might be taking up my time for a while, but eventually, I will not have to use as much time because there will be less stuff to get rid of. The less I bring home, the less likely junk will take on a mind of it’s own. I am going to be more intentional about what clutter I am physically, emotionally, and mentally bringing home.
